Browsing through some writer revenue sharing results that I was so easily provided by Google I stumbled upon a site that claims to be looking for entertainment writers, blogger's and fiction writers. The post for authors wanted stated that accepted writers will earn 99% of their own ad revenue- that is great compared to the overwhelming 50/50 or 75/25 sites that come a dime a dozen.
The site was new to me but appears to have been around for awhile and I was not able to find too much information on them which in the online world can be a good or bad thing. The good part is that it means no one feels like the site is a scam or love it so much that they don't want to share the wealth and then the bad news is that no one really cares. Well the only way to find out if their writers ad revenue share works for any individual writer would obviously be apply and see how it works for you.
If you are interested in checking out this online ad revenue share site then then visit FirefoxNews . The link should open in a new window and to get to the writers wanted page that provides information on their revenue share program as well as what they are looking for in their writers just click below the bold FIREFOX NEWS where it says "Join Firefox News Writers Wanted" or it you look at the top of the page you will see a tab labeled "Become an Author".
If you sign up and love it or hate it I'd love to hear about it and be able to provide an update for any future freelance revenue sharing writer looking for a good source of passive income.
YAY! I WON!
RedGage the paid social bookmarking site that allows you to earn off of views on content that you submit also offers up contests on what appears to be a daily basis for a chance to win a $50 Visa card. Just about everything you do on the site from reading the content that someone else has contributed to the site to bookmarking your own content, you earn points which are then used as entries into the daily contest. There are 2 random winners picked per contest, both of whom get a visa card as a prize preloaded with $50.
As a winner within my first few days as a member, of this social bookmarking site, I am a bit stoked and eager to see if my card arrives. I have a feeling that it will and that makes the extreme coolness of this site even more intriguing. While navigation can be a bit difficult at times and things can get a bit confusing, if you are use to other sites, I believe that they will fix this in the future as the need to moves from a nuisance to a detriment. They have already though had to close down a time or two (temporarily) to fix their system to permit a larger traffic base since us ehowers all seemed to flock to the newer site all at once and really cause one heck of a traffic boost. -- Well that is what happens when you promote a new potential money making opportunity (especially a social bookmarking site) to revenue junkies like those of us who frequent ehow.
I like the fact though, that when it is down they give you a message on the front page letting you know the real reason and not some generic under construction message that many social bookmarking sites have been known to leave up when being worked on. I am also happy to say that it seems that the owners of RedGage are truly trying to make this a bookmarking site where everyone who contributes has a chance to get a little more than a back link out of it. If they can manage to profit enough to keep the site up this will may heed a change to social bookmarking sites as we know them as competition will have to take notice and look into incorporating some sort of dual benefit for its contributors to keep their pristine popularity.
I was recently introduced to a new site called RedGage. It is a social bookmarking site that claims to pay you simply for the views your added content brings in. If you are familiar with social bookmarking sites then you know that you don't have to submit a fresh article just for this site it is simply a site to post a link to your articles and blogs. This site also allows you to upload photo's and videos as well as links and documents and you make money while trying to build back links and exposure to your own work.
The networking and added exposure alone, for your work seems to be bonus enough through some of the already established online social networks and book marking site. I can't lie though I find that the thought of getting paid to do something that benefits me in more than one way is very intriguing.
Are they a legit social bookmarking site? Well I have not figured that out quite yet. I have signed up and submitted some of my online article links and will wait and see how things go. Many others from the eHow site have decided to try it out and see what it leads to so cross your fingers as we may have found a gem here.
You don't get paid for sign ups or referrals but you are asked for your referrers name. If you sign up with RedGage feel free to put me down as the referrer MomWhoWrites is my online nick. Browse around and if you have anything to contribute to the site go ahead and give it a try. It does not ask for too much personal information, a very basic sign up process actually.
If you have any feedback or are already a part of the site I'd love to hear what you have to say about it and what your thoughts are on a social bookmarking site such as this that is willing to pay you.

InfoBarrel for residual income update:
Pennies are still trickling in for me on InfoBarrel and I have opted to put up a little more content than I had originally intended to, just in case this site does go big, as I suspect it may. I still believe the potential is there. This way I do not miss out on a good source of residual income.
I have had blogs for years loaded up with Google Adsense, in hopes of even making a little bit of residual income, and in that course of time have only earned a few pennies here and there. In comparing these meager earnings with the little I have now accrued at InfoBarrel I have already tripled my Adsense revenue in this short time on InfoBarrel.
Update and Tip to maximize your potential residual income on IB:
I just recently (today) learned that this site does not utilize “no follow” tags. This means that when a Google bot crawls the site it reads the entire page not just your articles. So, if you do sign up (which I encourage you to do – if you sign up under my link I will subscribe to your feed, so I can read your articles) make sure to make your keyword density a little higher than you would have it if you were simply writing articles on a site that only displayed your content on the page and no other information.
I like to keep my regular content between 3 and 4% but on this particular residual income site I like to bump up my keyword density to around 5 or 6%. I am still playing around with it to find out what works best but the good part about that is, that you are free to edit your articles after submission.
This will give you the opportunity to go in after a few weeks or even a few months if you should choose to and re-optimize your articles, switch up your keyword density or even completely change the keywords, if your articles are not bringing in any traffic or if you are only seeing meager earnings.
Should you choose to sign up and have any tips or tricks to share or would just like to share your experience I would love to hear about it. In the mean time, if I stumble across a technique or any method in particular that seems to be beneficial in this trek to bring in some residual income, I will be back to share it.
Earning Residual Income with InfoBarrel
So, I mentioned last time that I started up with a new site that I am hoping is a good addition to my other sources of residual income. InfoBarrel is the new site (new to me at least) that I believe has some potential. This site offers very detailed guidelines and your first 10 written articles are double checked by editors before publishing, just to verify that you are submitting quality content. Their pay is 75% of your earned ad revenue and anyone you sign up you can receive an additional 2% of their ad revenue (out of IB’s cut not your sign ups). You use your own Google Adsense account and can track your views and clicks via Google Channels through your account.
The site right now does not rank so well, so any article you submit you will want to promote via the regular promotional methods you use on any article site you write for, especially if you earn a residual income off of those articles – Digg, StumbleUpon, YahooBuzz etc.
Another couple of neat things about this site, aside from the residual income, are: the contests that they hold, which gives you the opportunity to earn a higher percent of your ad revenue for a month; the open writing formats that include the following templates – Blank-Review-How To and video; and also the fact that your views are updated instantly.
I have only been with InfoBarrel for a short while (under 4 weeks) I’ve earned maybe $1.00 but considering that these are based on views and ads on articles that are under 2 weeks old and featured on a lower ranking site – it’s actually not so bad. It gives me hope that with some time it could prove to be a prosperous source of residual income.
I don’t have enough information to show that it will be an amazing residual income source, so I have opted to only throw up a dozen or so articles just to see how things progress. I will definitely be updating just to let everyone know how it goes, in the meantime though if you are interested it sure can’t hurt to throw on a few articles so check them out, sign up and start writing!
Writing for eHow – The frustrations
It has been an extremely frustrating few weeks for writers on eHow. My writing has taken a nose dive because of the many glitches, delays and not to mention their new site “clean-up.” The original draw eHow had on me was that they offered a chance for everyone to write and their guidelines seemed lax, not to the point of allowing crap but to the point where one expected that there was a lot of flexibility for subject and writing levels. The second draw was earning residual income. Lately, earning residual income has come to be the only draw eHow has on most writers. It is sad because I could honestly say last month I LOVED eHow and all that it was about, even how it functioned. Now, I like eHow, I like earning my residual income but I have days where it is hard to want to even visit the site.
This site cleanup has consisted of eHow going in and deleting anywhere from 1 to hundreds of articles listed in writers accounts. These deletions are said to be a part of cleaning up their site. That is all fine except that we had no warning, were not told which articles were deleted, nor were we told why they were deleted. Some writers even had their entire accounts closed and lost everything: articles and earnings.
Some writer’s did receive a very generic deletion email that notified them that so many articles had already been removed from their pages, though they were not considerate enough to take the time to include which ones or why. They were thorough enough to say that no article that was deleted could be re-written. Their logic behind that was if the writer could not do it right the first time they probably couldn’t do it right this time. Now, I don’t know about you but if that does not put you off writing on eHow I don’t know what would.
I still stand by the fact that eHow is a great resource for writers wanting to earn a residual income through their articles, because it is. I personally lost 20 articles, some deserved deletion as there were a lot of missed errors but the reason for some that were taken was baffling and still has me and many other writers confused.
During this clean up process though it came to our attention that articles that were deleted that had decent traffic or were earning articles, though the articles were removed, the built up and promoted URL’s were not. These decent performing URLs were now being directed to editor articles (which eHow receives 100% of the earnings for) that were, way to often, shoddier than the article that was deleted. – This was a slap in the face to some writers and the forums lit up like a wildfire.
As a writer you expect a certain level of clarity on what is expected and unfortunately eHow is lacking in that department. Writers have fired back after this clean up and have demanded clear guidelines and actual examples of what eHow standards are for the writers.
Ehow has vowed to work on this issue and many of us have faith that they will follow through, though the timeliness of this fix is what we don’t have faith in. In the last few weeks, us writers have experienced site crashes, viruses when accessing the site, spur of the moment article deletions, days with no view or earning updates, some issues receive little to no communication (at least not usually timely communication), issues leaving comments, problems publishing, issues editing, we’ve lost our drafts and the list goes on. They have fixed some of these issues that have plagued their online writers but I fear the wave of frustration has just begun.
I have no intention of leaving eHow, though I find my frustrations with them lately to be high I do know that they have the potential to be one of the best sites online for a writer interested in earning residual income. They don’t cheat you like the sites that pay you based on page views – I say cheat because I have many times earned over 6 dollars on an article with less than 600 views and many sites that pay for page views offer you $1.50 for 1000 page views. I imagine you can see how that doesn’t pay off for the writer.
I still say if you are interested in earning a residual income online with your articles and writing then eHow is the place for you. Just sit tight and pray with me that they get their issues fixed soon and are soon back on the path where their writers are happy and the residual income far out-weighs the issues!
This Friday – I will be posting about a new site that I am writing on that looks like it may have some great potential. It isn’t where eHow is yet, pay is different, but with time and more content….you just never know. So, check back and find out what changes eHow has made and what this new site is all about!
I wanted to share with you a few sites that may be beneficial to you if you are looking for freelance writing jobs or gigs. These sites connect writers with buyers and offer up work in nearly every area of writing.
The first site is called WriterLance
I've never had the opportunity personally to try them out yet but I have received a few emails from people who recommended them. - So I'd appreciate any feedback anyone has on this company now that it has switched to more reliable owners.
The next site is Elance. I have had a few jobs from Elance and it is a great way to get started and if you are lucky you can find jobs that last for an extensive period of time as well as many that are brief gigs.
I will add to this list later as I know there are a few other sites that connect writers with work and some that allow writers to bid on jobs and set their own price.
Online Work – Is it the way to go?
These are economically troubled times which are putting a lot of pressure on companies to find a way to save on cost. Employee’s jobs are being cut as one method in which to cut cost and more cost effective methods of filling those positions are being sought out. One of the most cost effective methods for these companies is to outsource their work to freelancers who can do the work online. This increases the potential one has if they choose online work and possess the qualities these companies are looking for.
Those who do online work are often hired on as Independent contractors and reduce the amount of money a company would have to pay to a full time onsite employee. As an independent contractor you may stumble upon this online work being advertised in papers or online classifieds such as craigslist or you can search out online work you are qualified for on sites such as Elance, ODesk and Guru.
Online work can be extremely convenient for both company and worker. As a company you can avoid such costs as insurance and hourly wages and instead pay a predetermined amount for the task at hand. As a worker you save money by not having to drive back and forth to work, no worries if you forget to pack a lunch and no money wasted fast food if you do. Not to mention if you happen to be an online work at home mom or dad you can save hundreds a month on childcare costs.
So, in my most humble of opinions, I believe that online work in our economy is definitely the way to go.
Every Friday I try to post on at least one specific aspect to working at home or online work and here in the near future I will be adding more direct and specific resources for you.
I stumbled across AC a few months back and have taken on a few of their C4C - calls for content (C4C are article ideas offered by the site that you can claim and write about if you don't have an idea of your own) and I have found that it is not a bad site for writers. Not the best paying place on the web for writers but it does give you the opportunity to earn a residual income on any of your articles that you submit.
You are also given the freedom if you submit an article 100% yours to choose what rights you want to assign the site Exclusive - Non-Exclusive or Display Only. For Exclusive articles you will typically (depending on the quality and length of the article) be offered a small up front payment and then be allowed to earn money from page views on the article.
You can also choose Non-Exclusive which you can still earn a small upfront payment for your article and page views but your still own the rights to the article and can choose to remove it from the site if you so chose.
The other option is Display only (DO). This method retains all your rights to the article you publish allows you to get paid for page views you can edit it anytime even after it's published (which you can't with Ex or Non Ex) but you don't get a small upfront payment.
Now unlike eHow AC is not yet so popular with the search engines so you will have to work harder to get article views.
I still recommend them if you are just starting out writing for money and even if you aren't it couldn't hurt to throw a few articles up on the site and let them sit and earn some money for you. It is actually probably one of the easier sites I have ran across.
I ran across a way to make extra money online that takes right around 5 minutes a day, even less once you get use to it, and can bring in around an extra $20 a month. Granted this is not going to pay your bills but $20 is $20 and comes in handy whether being used towards groceries, gas, savings or something nice for yourself.
I personally take the $20 a month I make online and, since it is paid through Paypal, I added my kids' savings account to my Paypal account and deposit this extra money in their account. This is a great way for me to make a little extra money online and be able to put a little more money away for my kids.
What you do - All you need is a free Craigslist.org account and to be able to cut and paste. You will be cutting and pasting (usually real estate) ads. They give you step by step instructions and a detailed video of what you do. If this sounds like something you can do check out WFHHQ sign up and make some extra money online.

Drop-Shipping
Posted by Write2Write in drop shipper, drop shipping, dropshipper, dropshipping companies
If you are interested in selling products online but not keen on carrying them then you could look into dropshippers. Though, legit dropshipping companies who really offer you good profitable products can be hard to find it only takes uncovering one good company to put you on your feet and into business.
When you work with a dropshipper they carry the products that you sell and sell them to you at a discounted price then you in turn add a profitable amount to the price and resell it. So, all you have to do, really, is recruit the customer and then place the order through your dropshipper for a discounted price and they ship it directly to your customer.
When you search for drop shippers make sure you also search for reviews of those companies as well. Since many drop shippers expect payment upfront for your discounted items it is good business to make sure they are known for actually getting the product to the customer and handling any issues that may arise (i.e. undelivered packages, wrong product shipping).
What to look for when searching for the right reputable drop shipping companies:
-Prices you can make a profit on
-Ship direct to customer with your return information
-Great customer service and problem handling procedures
-Reasonable shipping rates
-Refund/Return policies
-Good turn-around times
Buy and Sell Online with Auctions
Posted by Write2Write in ebay business, make money on ebay, making money on ebay, online auctions
If you have a craft that you enjoy making have you considered selling it online? There are several ways to market your goods on the internet but online auctions more than any other avenues seem to be the most profitable.
Not into selling? With the use of online auctions you can even stand to save money on your purchases.
Making Money on Ebay - Start your Own eBay Business!
Go to eBay sign up and set up a sellers account. Be sure to read the fine print and choose the account that is going to best serve your needs.
If you already have products on hand that you would like to list for auction then get a good picture of them - preferably several. Write up a detailed description of the item that is being sold and decide on a price and shipping. - Keep in mind that eBay charges sellers fees and listing fees so take those into account when setting your price if you want to actually make money on ebay. - Submit or list your auction and then it becomes a waiting game.
If you do not have any products on hand a few good ways to find items to sell on eBay: visit your local thrift or second hand store and see if you run across any great deals on items you know will sell (keep in mind fees). Swap meets are another great place to find cheap items that might sell well on eBay auctions.
If you are looking more at turning this into an eBay business then you might look into other avenues of obtaining products such as searching out wholesale and bulk lots. These can often be found directly through a manufacturer or you can find good discount deals on other auction sites such as Ubid or look into companies who provide drop-shipping.
Those are the basics of Making money on eBay or setting up your own eBay business. I highly recommend researching any potential products before purchasing and looking into how well they sell. You can browse through eBay's recently ended auctions for an idea of what is selling.
I am sure you have run across numerous opportunites that allow you to work from home selling candles. Here I have 2 companies that I would like to recommend to you and those are Mia-Bella Gourmet Candles and Scentsy Candles.
I have had the opportunity to speak with an independent rep from both companies and even got to sample the product. Both companies appear to offer up a great money-making opportunity and there are several aspects to selling their candles that do not limit you to face to face cold sales.
These companies offer you the ability to sell an amazing product face-to-face, online or even through parties and you can make MORE by finding others who want to join up.
If it is even remotely interesting to you check out their sites and see what they have to offer at least!
Be sure to check out some of the related articles. You may find some helpful links and information regarding work from home opportunities that will help you to get your feet wet or at least help you decide if it is something you might be interested in.

Getting Paid to Write Articles
Posted by Write2Write in freelance work, paid to write, work at home, work from home
There are dozens of sites on the Internet that are willing to pay you to write articles. The best way to uncover these sites, in my experiences, are to do a thorough online search for "get paid to write" and also join up with some work from home forums.
Forums are a great way to find out who's looking for freelance articles, how much different companies are willing to pay, what they are looking for and which companies to avoid. Through forums such as WAHM.com, and many others sprinkled across the world wide web, you will make strong freelance connections with legit individuals and companies that are willing to give you a chance to show what you are made of.
Online searches really are only going to help you with ideas of the type of companies that will hire you and open up an avenue to uncover some good work from home resources such as forums and blogs related to home based work.
Once you have a list of potential companies you need to research their individual style preferences as some want technical and SEO articles while others are looking for personal stories and perspectives. Also, outside of expectations, you need to get familiar with article length. Most companies, on average, are looking for 500 word articles but you will run across some that expect 200 or even 1000 words.
Here are a couple of starter sites you can look into:
Daily Article
Associated Content
Helium
eHow - This is a revenue sharing site, so you write a short how to ... and you get paid off of the clicks your articles generate. This site is actually a lot of fun and I would recommend trying it out until the creative juices get flowing and you get more comfortable with writing.
Getting Paid to Post
Posted by Write2Write in freelance work, paid to write, work at home, work from home
What is paid to post you ask. There are companies out there that are hired by forums and blogs to bring traffic to their sites. Those companies then hire individuals to post on those sites and pay them per post. On average you make between .10 to .50 per post, depending on the job.
These companies expect nothing more then for you to provide quality posts for the companies who have paid for their services.
To make it as a good poster here are some things you will want to follow and keep in mind.
1) Do not make short-" yes/no" or "me too" types of posts. Keep them at the minimum between 15 and 25 words unless otherwise requested.
2) Never disclose that you work as a paid poster on any forum you are paid to boost.
3) Always respect the rules of the forums you are on.
4) Never Spam
5) Be careful when using affiliate links in your signature or posts - often it is not allowed by the company who hired you.
--Basically, just follow the rules!
Here are a couple of sites, that I guarantee are legit, to start you off:

Transcription is the act of turning audio and/or video into text. This takes a highly skilled ear and good grammar to be a successful with transcription.
Some companies will expect some sort of previous schooling or experience before hiring you for this position, however, some companies are willing to allow you to test and would hire without the schooling and experience. I recommend signing up for MTurk and listening to some of the transcription audio they have there and try your hand at that first before taking on a company test.
There is free software called EScribe that allows you to slow down, speed up and clear up audio which is a real necessity in this line of work. Way too often you will run across transcription audio recordings of people with heavy accents, fast talkers, whisperers or some with a lot of background noise so being able to work with them can save a lot of time.
Many work at home transcriptionists also have a foot pedal which is on some occasions required by companies hiring for transcription both medical and general.
If you are good at customer service you can always look into call center work from home. There are companies out there that hire you on, either as an employee or an Independent Contractor (IC) and allow you to work at home.
This job typically entails a few hours a day (some give a lot of leeway) and at least a few days a week. You are typically hired to answer or make calls to customers regarding orders, services or general help and information.
If you get hired on there are often requirements you must meet that vary but you are typically required to have the following:
Landline telephone
Computer requirements differ
Quiet home office
corded headset
